Carmela Cardama Baez
Carmela graduated from the University of Oregon in 2021 and brings firsthand experience competing at the highest levels of collegiate and professional distance running. An NCAA National Champion in the 10K, five-time All-American, and former professional runner with On, she understands the discipline, resilience, and mental demands required to thrive in elite sport. What sets Carmela apart is the combination of lived elite-sport experience, formal sport psychology training, and a deep understanding of transition. Having navigated the pathway from international student-athlete to transfer athlete, NCAA champion, and professional runner, she understands that performance is shaped not only by training and competition, but also by identity, environment, belonging, and change. She has extensive experience working with elite high school athletes pursuing collegiate opportunities, as well as college athletes navigating high-performance environments. With a Master’s in Sport Psychology and ongoing work toward becoming a Certified Mental Performance Consultant, Carmela helps athletes develop practical mental skills while building a more grounded, sustainable relationship with competition, success, and themselves.
